Step into the light

I’m thinking adding some warmth to my living room with some new lighting – the dark nights are so dreary it’s time to freshen up the most used room in the house and add some drama and light. Here are the latest in floor, wall and hanging lights that I am thinking of buying.

lamp

I thought this tripod floor lamp was pretty funky and different – I think it’s good to have unusual furniture pieces instead of decorating everything like a replica Ikea catalogue. This particular light has the A++ energy rating which is important for keeping those electricity bills down. I really liked the washed effect wooden legs matched with the cream linen shade. It’s a three legged design so probably best suited to suit in a corner as the drum shade could take up quite a lot of space too. You can even take it with you if you move abroad as it also comes with a European 2 pin plug. Overall I love this artistic design which I am sure would add character and flood the room with light. You can view it wayfair.co.uk.

I came across this stunning cascading light and I know exactly where I would put it above my dining table but it is at the top of my price range at £426.40. It looks like it could be a feature light in an expensive upmarket restaurant but instead it could be in my home. Looking at the feature it has seven hanging steel pendants. Each contains four watt LED energy saving bulbs. The glass exterior material carefully adapts to the light in the room and bounces off across the ceiling making it a visually stunning feature. The caracella collection is truly unique with some beautiful lamps – I will be hard pushed to find a nicer hanging light.

I’d never really considered the high street store Next to go to for lighting products but after buying something else in the store I had a good look at the lights on display. One really stood out as one I could use in my hallway – it’s a really gorgeous touch light that would look great on a sideboard. The ribbon effect swirls add some architecture and the grey linen shade looks really classy and modern. Grey is a key trend this season with various shades of the colour shown throughout various brands collections from Marks and Spencer to The White Company and Debenhams. This piece costs only £50 and is currently in stock.
